Country house, ideal for sports-lovers or artists in the heart of the Forest of Fontainebleau

Country house - 45 minutes from Paris in the heart of the Forest of Fontainebleau, with horse boxes, tennis court and natural rock/stone pool.

Ideal for Paris or Evry commuters, INSEAD employees or Parisians looking for a weekend get-away.

Who would believe that you could find an idyllic rural retreat like this!

Just 50km or 45 minutes drive south of Paris and 15 minutes from Fontainbleau, the house is almost a kilometer from the nearest road, reached from a sandy track in the forest. Yet the pretty villages of Barbizon or Arbonne-La-Foret are just a five minute bicycle ride or trot way. Which means grocery shops (open daily including the weekend) butchers, bakers, a chemist, a post office and a school are all at your disposal. If you like fresh farm produce, you're really in luck: there are three farms selling home-grown produce which includes fruit, vegetables, chicken, rabbit, cheese, butter, milk.......
If you must go to the supermarket a 15 minute drive will bring you to one of three shopping centres, at Chailly-en-Biere, Fontainebleau or Maisse. But if you prefer to do your shopping in a beautiful old market town: you're also in luck: Milly-La-Foret, with its award-winning sausage maker and butcher is just a short drive a way.
Need to get to Paris without taking the car?
Trains arrive at Avon-Fontainebleau (a ten minute drive away) from Paris every 45 minutes and the trip only takes half an hour, so whether you go by rail or road, this house is even suitable for commuters.
Need to get to the airport?
Orly (domestic and European flights is just 20 minutes away and in an hour you can be at Charles-de Gaulle international Airport.
Need to get some sun?
In 15 minutes you can be at Melun, where the TGV (the superfast train) will whisk you down to Lyon, Avignon, Marseille or Nice.

The Forest of Fontainbleau: Chanfroy

Walk, ride, bike or rock climb in 26,000 hectacres of forest

The Forest of Fontainebleau extends to a whopping 108 square miles and is highly protected by France's Office National des ForÍts and is recognised as a national park that is managed partly to conserve its wild plants and trees and its valuable population of birds, mammals and butterflies. It is a former royal hunting park often visited by walkers and horse riders. The Forest is also well-known for its bouldering and is particularly popular among climbers. It is simply fabulous for picnicking.

The natural beauty of the area has always attracted and continues to attract artists. Manet, Milet, Rousseau all lived and painted here, making it the breeding ground of Impressionism.
The house is a 10 minute walk from the stunning scenery of Chanfroy, The Gorges de Franchard and the rock climbing of the Les Trois Pignons............
Surrounded by highly protected forest, it is one of the few areas close to Paris where you can be sure that you will not have your view or your peace interrupted by the construction of new houses.
